2027 By Design — Why I'm Running an Annual Planning Workshop on October 21
Four hours. Fifteen operators. One working session at Five Bridges Farm to design 2027 from who you're becoming — not from what you want. Here's why I'm running it, and what you'll walk out with.
I'm doing something on October 21 that I haven't done before.
Four hours. Fifteen operators max. One working session at Five Bridges Farm to design 2027 — not from what you want, but from who you're becoming.
I'm calling it 2027 By Design. It's an annual planning workshop, and it's built for the person who's already tired of setting goals every January that die by Valentine's Day.
If that's you, I want you at the table on October 21.
Why I'm running it
I've watched too many capable people walk into a new year with a vision board and no verdict. They know how to execute. What they don't have is a way to decide what the year is actually for.
The problem is design, not discipline.
Every January I get calls from operators who told me they were going to make this year different. And every February I get the follow-up call — the one where they admit they set goals that were more about performance than purpose. Goals that looked good on paper. Goals that would have impressed their peer group. Goals that had almost nothing to do with the man or woman they were trying to become.
Annual planning starts with the wrong question. It asks what you want. What you want changes. What you want is downstream of your mood, your last conversation, and whichever podcast you listened to on the drive in.
The better question is: Who do I need to become for the year I'm called to?
That question doesn't move. And when you build a year around it, the goals stop feeling like assignments and start feeling like inevitabilities.
That's what October 21 is designed to help you do.
The framework we're working through
We're going to walk through the Five Bridges of Kairos — Spiritual, Internal, Relationships, Environment, Legacy — and design 2027 from all five at once, in order.
Because here's what I've learned: You don't get to pick which bridge to build. If any one of them collapses, the others start shaking. The founder who wins Q1 by burning the marriage doesn't win the year. The father who's home at 5 but drifting from his faith doesn't win the year either. The executive with the platinum calendar and the empty relationship with his adult son doesn't win the year, no matter what the P&L says.
The Five Bridges is the framework I built The Kairos Code around, and it's the same one I use with every Bridge Builder Mastermind member every quarter. It works because it refuses to let you succeed in one lane at the expense of the others.
Here's what each bridge is doing in the annual planning process:
Spiritual answers the identity question: Who am I in front of God this year, and what does that require of me? Everything downstream — every goal, every calendar block, every hard conversation — either aligns with that answer or contradicts it.
Internal answers the character question: What's the standard I hold myself to when nobody's watching in 2027? This is where discipline is either built or bypassed. Most people set outcome goals when they should be setting identity commitments.
Relationships answers the covenant question: Who am I becoming for the people I've promised something to? Your spouse, your kids, your team, your closest few. If your year serves everyone except the people who matter most, you've built a monument to the wrong thing.
Environment answers the design question: What am I letting build me while I sleep? The systems, the schedule, the people, the inputs. You don't rise to your goals — you fall to the level of your environment. So we design it on purpose.
Legacy answers the ripple question: When I'm gone, what stays? This is not a retirement question. Legacy is happening right now, in every decision that will outlast this year.
What you'll walk out with
By the end of the day you will have, on paper:
- A written December 31, 2027 vision — one page, in your handwriting
- One defining outcome for each Bridge
- Your Big Three — one personal, one business, one relational
- The One Move that could alter the trajectory of the entire year
- A Q1 starting point that doesn't require you to overhaul your life on January 1
- A signed commitment page
You'll walk out with clarity. Not a to-do list. A verdict on what 2027 is for.
The commitment page is the piece most workshops skip. You'll sign your own — and one person you trust will sign it as a witness. Not because signatures are magic. Because verbal commitments evaporate. Written commitments outlast the moment you made them.
Who this is for
This is for operators. Founders, executives, business owners, and the men and women running something real — a company, a family, a mission — who are done drifting through another twelve months and want to make the next one count.
If you're the smartest person in every group you're in, this isn't the day for you. This is for people who want to be sharpened.
If you've read The Kairos Code, this is the working session that puts the framework into your calendar for the year ahead. If you haven't, you'll leave with a Five Bridges map you can use for the rest of your life.
If you're in the Bridge Builder Mastermind, this is included in your membership. You don't need to do anything except show up. Your seat is already saved.
Why fifteen seats and not fifty
Because thirty-five people don't fit in a working session. Fifty makes it a conference.
I've spoken from the big stages. And I can tell you exactly what happens: The people who need the day most sit in the back, nod at the right moments, and go home unchanged.
Fifteen forces you to be seen. It means you'll be asked the question you've been avoiding. It means the person next to you is going to know what you signed at the end of the day — and be able to call you on it in February.
Small enough to be honest. Big enough to be sharpened by the group. That's the design.

Action Items From Today
- Block October 21 on your calendar right now. If you don't defend the day, the day disappears. The best time to design a year is before it starts pulling you in ten directions.
- Answer this before you arrive: "Who do I need to become for 2027 to matter?" Write it in one sentence. That sentence is your ticket.
- List the three things you refused to face in 2026. Bring the list. This is the year to face them.
- Identify one relationship that needs a decision in the next 12 months. Marriage, business partner, team member, adult child, parent. Come ready to name it.
- **Read The Kairos Code before you arrive if you haven't yet.** The audiobook is now live — narrated by me — if you want the drive-time version. It's not required, but you'll get more out of the day if you've already met the framework on the page.
- Reserve your seat while there are still seats. The workshop registration is here. Fifteen max. Not a marketing number — it's what fits in the space.
Five Bridges Challenges
Internal: Before October 21, write down the version of yourself you were pretending to be in 2026. Then write down the version you're going to stop pretending about in 2027. This is the work no one else can do for you. Bring both.
Relationships: Tell your spouse or your closest partner what you're going to the workshop for. Not the logistics — the reason. If you can't say the reason out loud, you don't have one yet. Find it before you arrive.
Legacy: Write a paragraph describing the person your kids should be able to point to on December 31, 2027 and say "That's the year Dad became who he was supposed to be." Bring that paragraph. We're going to work backwards from it.
The people who show up on October 21 will leave with a year designed on purpose. The people who don't will leave January 1 with a resolution and no verdict — same as every year before.
Design it, or drift through it. Those are the two options.
