The Operator-Coach Revolution And What Kairos Coaching Is Becoming
The coaching industry is broken in ways almost no coach will say out loud. Here is what Kairos Coaching is, how it is growing, and the 300 Operator-Coach vision we are on a mission to build.
Five years ago I realized something. I had been spoiled.
I built my career in the financial advisory world, surrounded by real mentors and real operators. People who had actually built businesses, made payroll, and carried the weight of leadership. They did not teach theory. They shared scars. I thought that was normal.
It was not.
When I started coaching entrepreneurs outside my industry, I saw the truth. Almost every founder I met was alone. No real mentors. No seasoned operators in their corner. And many of the coaches they were paying had never built a real business. They were great at marketing. Great at selling courses. Great at selling hope. They had no scars. Snake oil with a sales funnel.
That reality ate at my soul.
Because I know what it takes to build something real. Sleepless nights. Fear of making payroll. Moments when everything feels like it might collapse. Entrepreneurs do not need more theory. They need someone who has been in the arena.
But there was a second problem, and it was worse than the first. I watched entrepreneurs build incredible companies while their marriages fell apart. While their health declined. While their kids drifted away. While their souls grew empty. Successful on paper. Broken in real life. Nobody was coaching the whole operator. Everyone was coaching the business and pretending the rest of the life would sort itself out.
The Two Problems The Coaching Industry Refuses To Fix
I want to name what I have watched go wrong in this industry over the last decade, because if you have felt any of it, you are not imagining it.
Coaches who have never coached from experience. The barrier to entry to call yourself a business coach is a certification and a landing page. There is no requirement that you have ever built, sold, hired, fired, made payroll, taken debt, or survived a bad quarter. The result is a generation of coaches teaching frameworks they cannot pressure-test, because they have never had their own money on the line.
Programs sold like status symbols instead of tools. Masterminds priced for the badge, not the outcome. Retreats that produce great photos and no accountability between calls. Certifications that turn coaching into a downstream affiliate business. When the primary revenue model of a coaching program is producing more coaches, something has drifted.
Frameworks that only address the business. Almost every program on the market pretends that a founder is only their P&L. The founder shows up, gets sharpened on strategy, marketing, sales, and hiring, and goes home to a marriage that is quietly dying, a body that is falling apart, and a spiritual life that has gone silent. The business gets stronger. The person carrying the business gets weaker. That is not a win. That is a delayed collapse.
A ceiling on truth. The founder eventually stops bringing the real issues to the group because the group is not built to hold them. So the coaching relationship becomes performance instead of transformation.
That is the industry as it currently exists. And that is exactly what Kairos Coaching was built to change.
Our Mission
We exist to build a world-class experience and program for leaders who are ready to put in the work and be the best they can be for themselves, their business, their family, and their legacy.
Not four categories in a brochure. Four bridges that have to hold weight in the same operator, at the same time, for the compound to work. We refuse to coach a founder to a bigger business at the cost of the rest of the life. We refuse to coach a founder to a healthier life while the business erodes. Both, or the work is not finished.
That is the standard. Everything else about Kairos is downstream of it.
What Kairos Coaching Is
Kairos Coaching is a leadership development company for 7, 8, and 9 figure founders and executives who want to build companies and lives that are actually worth what they cost.
The founders we work with have already built something. Revenue, teams, trophy customers, a growth curve. And underneath all of that, a private list of things that are not working. A relationship going quiet. A version of themselves they have not been for years. A calendar that no longer reflects what they actually care about.
Our job is to help those operators stop, get honest, and rebuild the operating system of their own life at the same standard they hold their business to.
The name is deliberate. Chronos is measured time. Kairos is the opportune moment. The founders who compound over decades learn to recognize a kairos moment when it shows up and act on it before it passes. Every program we run sharpens that discipline through the Five Bridges: Spiritual, Internal, Relationships, Environment, and Legacy. A founder winning at four of the five is not actually winning.
The Programs Under The Kairos Umbrella
Four active offers, each built for a specific season of the operator's journey.
Bridge Builder Mastermind is our small-cohort mastermind for high-performing operators who are tired of being the top of the table in every peer group they are in. Real founders, real P&Ls, real accountability between calls.
EOS Implementation is the operating system work for leadership teams that need discipline in how they meet, set priorities, and hold each other accountable. This is what takes a company from founder-dependent to team-run.
One-on-One Coaching is where I work directly with a small number of founders every year on the specific decisions they cannot bring to their team, their board, or their spouse without complication.
LQ Blueprint is our leadership quotient curriculum, built around the Five Bridges and delivered as both a self-paced course and a facilitated cohort. It is the deepest internal work we do on the operating system of the founder.
Everything else we publish, from The Kairos Code book to the Spartan Leadership Podcast to the weekly writing at joshkosnick.com to the LQ Assessment, exists to serve those four programs.
How Kairos Is Growing
For five years I was the only coach in the practice. That was on purpose. Every model, every framework, every language pattern needed to be tested in real client work before I would put anyone else in front of a founder wearing the Kairos name.
That season is over.
Kairos is now three operators. Two people I trust more than almost anyone in business have joined the team, and both of them are coaching under the Kairos umbrella while continuing to build their own practices independently. We will introduce them properly over the next several weeks. The short version is this.
Karl Dettmann — Wealth Advisor, Community Builder, Facilitator. After multiple technology business exits early in his career, Karl spent over a decade continuing to start, grow, and sell companies. In his early thirties he made a conscious departure from the traditional 40-hour workweek and entered a multi-year process of coaching, unlearning, and reintegration. Through that work he redefined success around quality of life, wholeness, and long-term sustainability, without stepping away from meaningful business impact. Today he supports founders and leaders in designing businesses that serve their lives rather than consume them, working day-to-day with clients in his wealth management practice while stewarding a regenerative agriculture farm. His guiding line is simple: a well-lived year should feel clear, integrated, and worthy of repeating.
Jason Teteak — Entrepreneurial Coach, Public Speaking Coach, TEDx Speaker, Bestselling Author. Jason is the visionary founder of the premier presentation consulting firm Rule the Room and an internationally recognized public speaking and communication coach who has taught more than a million people how to command attention and connect with audiences in their own authentic style. He wrote the book Rule the Room: A Unique, Practical, and Comprehensive Guide to Making a Successful Presentation. He gained early recognition in the medical software industry as a trainer of trainers before developing dozens of communication and presentation programs that became the foundation of The Rule the Room Method. Multi-year number one bestselling coach in public speaking, training, and leadership development. Today he coaches elite entrepreneurs and financial advisors across the country on their teams, their minds, their practices, their efficiency, and the highly joyful, integrated life underneath all of it. He works with people who have real integrity and real ambition, helping them get crystal clear on what they want to achieve and then building and implementing the plans to make it real.
Neither of them is a career coach. Both of them are operators who have signed the payroll, taken the risk, and built something real. That is the standard we recruit against, and we will not lower it for anyone.
What Comes Next
We are building a different kind of coaching industry. Operators coaching operators. Scars over slides. Whole founders, not just growing businesses.
Kairos is not a launch. It is a lifetime.
What This Means For You
If you are a founder reading this and something in it is landing, here is the simplest way to figure out your next step.
Take the LQ Assessment first. It is a fifteen-minute diagnostic across the Five Bridges. You will get a score on each bridge and a clear read on where the leverage in your leadership actually is. Almost every founder who takes it tells me the same thing: the bridge that scored lowest was the one they were quietly ignoring.
If the assessment surfaces something you want to work on inside a small group of operators at your level, Bridge Builder Mastermind is where that work happens.
If you want the deeper internal work in curriculum form, LQ Blueprint is the deepest expression of the Five Bridges we teach.
If your leadership team is stuck on how you meet, set priorities, and hold each other accountable, EOS Implementation is the right first move.
And if you want to read the whole thesis before you decide anything, The Kairos Code is the book version of everything above.
What I Want You To Know
Kairos is not a coaching brand. It is a standard.
We only put coaches in front of founders who have actually built something. We only teach frameworks that have been tested against real P&Ls. We only publish work we would hand to a founder we love. We build every program to raise the ceiling of the operator in front of us, and we measure our success by whether the founders who work with us are still growing three, five, and ten years later.
You do not have to destroy your family to build your company. You do not have to sacrifice your health for growth. You do not have to lose your soul to win in business.
If you are an operator who feels this in your bones, if you are tired of theory without scars, if you want to build success without losing your soul, this is your invitation.
Welcome to the Operator-Coach revolution.
Inspire & Impact,
Josh
